Biography:
Dr. Tyrell Omar Brown
Morning Star Baptist Church
Tyrell Omar Brown was born in New
Brunswick, New Jersey and accepted the Lord
Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 15. In
1994, he accepted his call into the ministry. On
December 6, 1996 he was ordained by the late
Dr. Olin P. Moyd, who was past President of
the Ministers’ Division of the National Baptist
Convention.

Equipped to move forward in ministry, he has served faithfully in the following
churches: St. John Freewill Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD ; New Antioch Baptist
Church, Randallstown, MD, as Youth and Young Adult Minister (Dr. Kenneth L. Barney,
Sr., Pastor); Bethel AME Church as Minister of Administration and Special Events; Mt.
Hebron Baptist Church of Clifton Park, MD as Senior Pastor and is now serving as Senior
Pastor of the 104 year old Morning Star Baptist Church, Richmond, VA.
God has allowed him to travel across the World, Nationally and Internationally to preach
at various conferences and seminars. In February, 2007, Pastor Brown was the featured
preacher at the Pastors and Key Leaders Conference in London, England. Also, in 2007,
he wrote his first book entitled, “God’s Word is the Key to Fulfillment: Devotional
Principles for Everyday Guidance”. His second book was completed in 2009 titled, “How
to Handle and Overcome Conflict in the Church”. Most recently Dr. and First Lady
Brown successfully completed, “Marriage God’s Way”.
Pastor Brown earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from the Washington
Bible College, Lanham, MD in 2001. In 2004, he completed his Master of Arts in
Biblical Studies, Capital Bible Seminary, Lanham, MD and in May 2009 completed his
Doctorate of Ministry degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg,
Virginia. He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas
Christian College of Jacksonville, Florida in 2007.
He has been married to his best friend, the exquisite Lissette Brown for over 16 years and
they have been blessed with three precious gems, Jaydah, Genesis and Joy.
Pastor Brown can now be seen Sunday Mornings at 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., Fox TV (a
local TV Station in Richmond, Virginia).
As a result of his evangelistic spirit, several souls have been saved and several new
ministries have started at the Morning Star Baptist Church.
His life’s verse is, “Now unto Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask
or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20) NIV
